The abstract noun in Rromani is formed by means of the suffix -pen (often prononced -pe) added to the root expressing the idea at stake: tato warm > the root is tat- + link i + suffix pen = tatipen warmness; same with others.
The abstract noun in Rromani may be formed not only from adjectives (as above), but also from verbs: pućhel > the root is pućh- + link i + suffix pen + pućhipen question, from nouns amal > the root is amal + link i + suffix pen + amalipen friendship and from abverbs dur far > the root is dur + link i + suffix pen + duripen distance.

Rromani adjectives
There are two main classes of adjectives in Rromani: the "wide" class (after the word buxlo wide, which serves as grammatical example) and the "narrow" class (after the word tang narrow, which serves as grammatical example) – the latter remains unchanged, whereas the former has a set of three endings in the absolute form (the one which serves among others in the subject of a clause.

The comparative (wider, warmer, more friendly etc.) is formed with the help of a specific ending -eder: buxleder wider, tateder warmer, gudleder sweeter... With new and/or international words, the adverb buter (or buteder) is put before the adjective: buter sofistikuime more sophisticated. The term of comparison can be introduced by desar (or sar in colloquial speech): buteder [de]sar laqo phral more than her brother.
